Our Tiny Houses and Studios, nestled in the picturesque landscape, are more than just eco-friendly accommodation; they are a testament to eco-friendly living.
Powered by Nature
The Perch is powered by our own wind and solar energy sources. We’re proud to contribute significantly to the grid, supplying the equivalent energy for over 200 homes. In the future we plan to enhance our renewable energy generation and storage capacity. This will further reduce the impact on the environment.
Beyond Carbon Neutral
Our approach at The Perch goes beyond achieving carbon neutrality. Eschewing all fossil fuels, we rely exclusively on renewable electricity, setting a new standard for eco friendly stays near the stunning Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland.
Eco-Conscious Construction
Every Perch is handcrafted, using natural and renewable materials wherever possible. Exceptionally insulated, these bespoke units require minimal heating, a vital feature in today’s world of green tourism. Heating is supplied by air to air heat pumps featuring cutting-edge “nanoe x” technology for air purification. Reconnect with nature in an environmentally friendly setting.
Locally-Sourced Materials
In our construction, we have utilised timber from our own land, treating it with the ancient Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban to blend tradition with sustainability. This not only gives The Perch a unique aesthetic but also emphasises our commitment to local resources and sustainable stays.
Natural Water Sources
Our water supply is as pure as it gets, drawn from a spring deep within the basalt hillside of our farm. Even our picturesque lake is fed by a separate underground spring, ensuring the utmost purity and connection with the land. Enjoy the sights and sounds around the lake and enjoy the sustainable way the Perch has been designed with everything you could need in many eco-friendly ways.
Energy-Efficient Amenities
From on demand hot water in our thermal battery stores to remote monitoring of energy use, every aspect of The Perch is designed with energy efficiency in mind. Our private hot tubs, a highlight for many guests, are insulated and heated via heat pumps to minimize energy consumption. Unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet in exclusive private grounds, and enjoy a luxurious stay in eco friendly accommodation that looks after nature and the environment.
Conscious Choices
Our partnership with “Who Gives A Crap” for toilet tissue and “miniml” for toiletries reflects our dedication to sustainable practices. We avoid single use plastics entirely, opting for refillable options and suppliers who share our vision of a sustainable world. Our ethos is about reducing the carbon footprint.
